I did like the smell of the oil paint from the kit and my linseed oil. Now, when I paint, it's Acrylic and the smell is pleasant but not the same.Tom Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14965718161518637743noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079877794128349006.post-16112089993321717152011-01-19T07:27:38.446-06:002011-01-19T07:27:38.446-06:00Hi grovecanada --- Thank you for adding your beaut...Hi grovecanada --- Thank you for adding your beautiful sentiment to this post (as I sit here alone in the early morning, typing, drinking a cup of coffee!). I'm always telling him that this is the best possible endorsement of his art. And thank you for your words about New Orleans --- our favorite city-

And Anne, Thank you for your comments. They're a great addendum to the post, reminding all of us of the real world, daily changes stemming from even 'artistic' convenience. I'll look for you at the cemetery! I was shocked when I went to purchase a ballpoint pen and ink or even try and find stationery; prices for plastic fountain pens we broke in high school are quite high!
The paint by number ideal seems to have filtered down to most aspects of creative endeavor, especially photography. A truly good photograph needs nothing else, except perhaps cropping that would have been done in a darkroom years ago.
And now I am back to sketching a small image of an inverted torch from one of the tombs in the Garden District~~the Blue Dog paint by number reminds me of my initial outlines I do for small work, so I can see.
Maybe I just *draw* by number.....
Delightful and thoughtful post.

XXOO~~♥
AnneAnne Huskey-Lockardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01642632328404951486noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8079877794128349006.post-34806412888689026172011-01-16T12:52:34.282-06:002011-01-16T12:52:34.282-06:00George and Wendy have done so much for New Orleans...George and Wendy have done so much for New Orleans. Thank you guys along with Harry, Brad for your names and faces, and to the thousands of others who have maintained progress in New Orleans - our only city from another country in the U.S. My prize posession of 19 years has been an oil Dog bought during a great visit during Marti Gras. I have been a fan since, and everyone knows the Blue Dog through my oil, prints, books, and other "souveniers". I love to see the Blue Doug moving into the "app-age" although I could sit for hours and just look at my painting - something that cannot even be described on the computer. Thanks for everything. A huge fan and admirer. TimTim Brannannoreply@blogger.com
